Monica Landino

Monica Landino passed on May 23, 2026, at the age of 93, having been born on August 5, 1932. Beloved wife of the late Frank Landino, DDS. Loving mother of Frank Landino, Jr. (Linda) of New Hampshire, John Landino (Annie) of Texas, Lorraine Joyce (Pat) of Illinois, Andrea Thornton (Dick) and Peter Landino (Charlotte).

Cherished grandmother of Frank Landino (Christina), Johnny Landino (Ashlyn), Alyssa Moscarino (John), Matthew Joyce (Katie), Tom Joyce (Sarah), R.J. Thornton (Malorie), Megan Thornton (fiance Nick Lopez) and Karen Landino. Great grandmother of 12.

Dear sister of Virginia Diemer and the late Paul Malik (Patty) and Richard Malik (Doris). Sister in law of Mary Gavin (Jay). Aunt, cousin and friend of many.

Monica was born during the nadir of The Great Depression, lived her adolescence during the World War II years, and got married and had 5 children during the 1950s and 60s. She went to Catholic schools all the way through college and received her teaching degree from St. John’s College in Cleveland. She taught as a grade school tutor and high school teacher, eventually retiring as a school librarian in the Berea school system.

After her retirement and the passing of her husband Frank in 1996, she travelled the farthest reaches of the world and everywhere in between. While she remained devoted to her family and friends, she clearly enjoyed her independence by selling the family home and planning trips on a whim. She also loved her Cleveland roots which started in the Old Brooklyn area, then moved to the westside suburbs once married and remained there until her passing.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12700 Pearl Road, Strongsville, Ohio at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:00 AM at the church.
