Norman A. King passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Zychowski) (deceased) for 60 years; devoted father of Michael (Lori Pappas), Karen Andrews (Bob deceased), and David (Shelley); cherished grandfather of Michaela, Mackenzie, Evan, Kyle, Sidney Anna (Brandon Kiser), and Ryan; caring uncle of Danny (Lisa), Danette (deceased) (Steve), and Tommy (deceased). Norm was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired Parma Fireman, and a 68-year member of the Bricklayer and Allied Craftsman Local 5.
Norm was a devoted husband, father, skilled craftsman, and pillar of strength. He lived a life defined by hard work, resilience and determination. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying the values of discipline and service throughout his life. After his time in the military, he continued serving his community as a firefighter, demonstrating courage and selflessness in protecting others. Later, he found his true calling in masonry and founded his own company of 45 years, Norm King Construction Inc. — following the company’s core value “Foundations set on Faith, built with the Builder, never giving up.” He was a man who led by example, teaching those around him the value of hard work and integrity. His faith guided his life and decisions, not only in words but in the way he lived each day. He showed his love through long days of labor, providing for his family through the solid buildings he built. He believed in doing things the right way, never cutting corners, and leaving behind work that would stand the test of time. He was a builder in every sense. With his own hands, he built two homes, creating spaces filled with love, security, and lasting memories. Everything he did reflected his belief that a strong foundation — whether in faith, family, and/or work — was the key to a meaningful life. His legacy lives on in his family, in the business he built, and in the countless lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to Southwest General Hospice at swgeneral.com/ways-to-give/give-now/, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
