Forest Grant III, 64, completed his journey on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Ohio’s Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties in Middletown after a short battle with cancer. Forest was born on January 11, 1957, to parents Forest Grant Jr. and Mary Louise Grant, both deceased prior to their son’s 21st birthday. He is also predeceased by his sister Eleanor Tambascia.
Forest met his wife Debbie while they both worked as Bill Knapp’s restaurant managers in Mason, Ohio. They were happily married for 38 years with two sons, Aaron and Nathan. Forest enjoyed playing cards, golfing, beer tasting, and bowling with his friends. He and Debbie shared gardening, hiking in the woods, traveling, and hosting family gatherings where he was always the master of the grill. Some of his fondest memories were of playing saxophone at music gigs during his high school and college years in and around Columbus, Ohio, alongside lifelong friend John Gunn on trombone. Friends and family remember him for his contagious smile and always welcoming demeanor.
While laboring long hours in the restaurant and construction industries, wanting to make a better life for his wife and two young children, Forest attended night classes to earn his BS degree in Accounting from Wright State University. He continued on, with many more night classes, to earn his MBA degree from Miami University. He dedicated 28 years of his career as a cost accountant at Contech in Middletown and West Chester, Ohio. Forest was a past president of the Institute of Management Accountants and was Treasurer of Bull’s Run Nature Sanctuary and Arboretum.
Forest is survived by sons Aaron, Nathan (Krissy), newly born granddaughter Hannah, sisters Mary Brock (Robert), Ellen Zulka, and Lois Muzio (Joseph), Debbie’s parents Bob and Gibbie Wise, Debbie’s sister Melissa Roberts (Adam), and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank their friends and the hospice staff for helping them through this difficult month.
Inurnment arrangements have been entrusted to Breitenbach Anderson funeral home in Middletown, and Forest’s urn will be placed within the mosaic wall at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2021, 4-6pm, Stoney Hill Farm, 7757 Upper Miamisburg Road, Miamisburg, OH 45342.
Memorial donations may be made to Bull’s Run Nature Sanctuary and Arboretum, P.O. Box 425, Middletown, OH 45042.
