Billie Jean (Gran) Moore went to be with our Lord on August 14, 2013 while holding her granddaughters hand in her loving, devoted home. Gran gallantly battled Cancer and Dementia under the watchful eye of her granddaughter Kim and husband Tyler. What noble and steadfast caretakers they were while never once wavering on their decision to care for her until the day she passed. Gran was an example of Christ in every aspect of her life, as we are all called to be. There is no doubt she is spreading love and laughter in Heaven now.
She was born on August 22, 1924 in Sayre, OK to Virginia Irene and Johnny B. Myers. Gran never met a stranger and was so full of life and love for other people. She was a hero to her granddaughters and her undying love and care for them impacted their lives forever. She was employed at M System Food's for over 33 years with her final position being Drug Manager. Her isles were pristine perfect and her smiles were abundant. Gran was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir alongside her husband of late, William Frederick Young III. There was always a soda, snack, special surprise and a smile waiting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tea was supposed to have sugar and dessert was served at the end of every meal. She was an amazing cook and an immaculate gardener. If she wasn't at work or playing with the grandkids she could be found working in the yard as it brought her peace. Gran's most famous talent was bedtime stories. Among the favorites were "Jack and the Bean Stalk," "Goldie Locks and the Three Bears", and "The Three Little Pigs." If you were fortunate enough to have heard them you would have sworn you were in the story yourself. Her granddaughters spent many a night in her loving arms while falling peacefully to sleep to such fairy tales.
She is survived by her sister Claudette Johnson of Athens Texas, daughter Lana Young Reynolds, granddaughters Kimberly Rene' Riley and husband William Tyler Riley, Lyneia Jean Vitello and husband Michael Perry Vitello and great grandchildren Kirsten Louise Graham, Logan Perry Vitello, Brinson Michael Vitello and Cason Patrick Vitello of Midland, Texas.
There will be a viewing on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm. Graveside service has been scheduled for Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:00am at Fairview Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
