On August 26, 2024, Bobby Gene Gann was called home to his eternal Kingdom to be with our Lord and savior. He was born October 17,1928 to George and Bertie Gann in Levelland, Texas. He was the youngest of 10 siblings.
He grew up and attended school in Wink, Texas, where he excelled at football, basketball and track; graduating in 1947.
In 1948 he began his lifelong career in the oilfield at Shell pipeline until he was drafted into the Army to fight in the Korean War from 1950-1953, where he obtained the rank of sergeant.
Bobby retired from D.M.I at the age of 70, concluding his lime in the oil field. He held several odd jobs until officially retiring in 2018.
He married Barbara Fox in 1954 and they had 2 daughters Dana and Leslie.
Later he met and fell in love with Eula Lamb, marrying her in 1978 and gaining 5 more children.
Bobby had many friends and family throughout his life, some had passed before him, who we know he was excited to be reunited with, and to tell them all the stories they've missed out on!
Bobby was an avid animal lover.
In 2017 he attended the Permian Basin Honor Flight with his daughter Tina, he said it was the most wonderful, powerful thing he had ever gotten to experience, it made him even more proud to have served his country. He enjoyed the experience so much that he wanted to go again.
Bobby was a good man, he helped many people throughout his lifetime. Many of us would not have become the people we are today without his generosity and giving nature. Bobby was witty and could retell the same story millions of times with the same level of charisma as if you had never heard it before. He loved the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry where he met so many new people including Jason and Nancy. He loved the camaraderie of the ministry but most importantly the food .. but he always had to bring his own onion!
It goes without saying, he was the Dallas Cowboys number one fan, hoping to see them win another Super Bowl.
He is survived by his daughters Dana Doody and husband Bob, Leslie Gann, Nancy Brooks-Ausley and husband Charlie, Tina Lamb, sons Bill Lamb and wife Rhonda, Wayne Lamb, grandchildren Cheryl Gerthe and husband Eric, Aaron Brooks, and wife Jorden. Honorary Pallbearers are Aaron Brooks, Todd Brooks, Danny Hobbs, Bob Doody, Charlie Ausley, Cheyne Ausley, Bill Lamb, Wayne Lamb, and Eric Gerthe.
Our family was fortunate to get together recently and spend one last party with Bobby, not knowing it would be our last. Bobby told his stories and made us laugh. He said if he'd not pissed anybody off that day, then he hadn't got to them yet! LOL
Although we are heartbroken without him here, we know he is dancing in Heaven with his loved ones.
If he were here today he would tell us to "Hang in there!" and most famously ..... "I hate to eat and run ... !!!"
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry 1401 Orchard Ln Midland, TX 79701.
