Our beloved Mother, Sister and Friend, Brenda Sue Reed Jones departed this earth on January 18, 2016. She was known affectionately as "Mamaw Sam," by those who were closest to her. Brenda was born on Wednesday, July 18, 1945 in Beaumont Texas, to Elmer Reed & Vivian Morgan who preceded her in death along with her Brother Shorty Reed and Grandson and name sake Samuel "Sam" Ryan Geer and Great Grand Daughter Alexis Smith.
Mamaw leaves behind her Brothers Jerry Reed & wife Virginia, James Morgan & wife Martha, JR Morgan and wife Diane, sisters Joyce Camp & husband Jimmy and Shirley Hannigan and three daughters Beverly Smith, Peggy Geer and Licia Blackmon along with six Grandkids Robert Harris & wife Megan, Krystal Smith, Roy Geer & wife Hayley, Todd Lemons, James Smith & husband David Smith, Michael Blackmon and six Great Grand-Children who are Eliana Smith, Gracie Lemons, Mason Harris, Finley Geer, Mayer Geer and Nolan Harris all of whom cannot find words enough to say good bye on this day.
Brenda was best known by her friends and Co-Workers as Sam. She had a career of 21 years at Vought Aerospace, that later became Northrop Grumman. She was a highly esteemed friend and Electrical Inspector. She loved her job and the many friends she made there over the years.
Mamaw Sam was best known for her unconditional love, her smile and her laughter that would light up a room, causing everyone around her to be lifted up no matter what they were going through. She had an incredible desire to make everyone near her comfortable every minute they were in her presence. She was the one we all would go to for advice because we knew she would tell us the truth, even if it was not what we wanted to hear. Our greatest gift beyond her love is the Legacy of Faith she showered on us with every prayer she prayed for us. We had to let Mamaw go to the arms of Jesus today, knowing that we would be okay as we walked in faith for each day granted us! Mamaw, we will forever miss your warm touch and beautiful smile.
Brenda will be buried in Midland, Texas on January 22, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park. A viewing will take place at Ellis Funeral Home between 6 and 8 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2016. The funeral service will be at the Dolley Neal Chapel located at Midland College on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 12:00 p.m.
