Calvin you will be missed.    Brother from another mother!   Great big heart.  I am so blessed I got to see you this summer.  Unfortunate it was for another sad passing.   Thank you for being a great friend!   I feel so blessed to have known you.

Once in a lifetime you have that special sole come into your life for a sliver of it.  You feel instant energy and a bond while sharing laughter and heartache.  Creating memories you don't realize will be all you have because just like that you are gone.  Two months from the day you walked into my life I find out you have gone home....  I sit and wonder how a solo could leave such an impact in such a short time... but realize that there was a higher power in our paths crossing...  I am thankful and blessed for it.  Thank you Calvin Wilson-Rios for the memories, laughter and coming into my life even if it was for a sliver of it.  We truly don't know when our time is up so live in the moment, do what you want and what makes you happy.  I know Nancy was there with open arms welcoming you with her big smile.... Fly high Calvin till we meet again.

Words are too shallow to describe what a lovely, kind, loving person Calvin was.  While we've been out of touch for several years, Calvin and Ricky are always in my prayers. I was shocked to read of Calvin's passing, heartbroken is more like it.  Oh dear Ricky Star, please know that Kelly and I are sending you prayers for comfort during this unimaginable time.  We love each of you forever.

I met Calvin at Shilohs...I always thought he was mean.. until I got to know him better!  He was accepting and had a great sense of humor.   Rest in peace Calvin. 

My wife, Caitie, and I only got the opportunity to share time with Calvin once last Christmas in his and Ricky’s home, but Calvin was very welcoming as if we had been the best of friends like everyone else there. Calvin is such a jovial person, extremely personable, and most definitely someone that enriches your life by simply getting to meet them, regardless of the amount of time you have spent with him. Walking around their home, we could see the wonderful life that Calvin and Ricky share, all the memories they have made, and I myself was envious was quite envious of the experiences that appeared to have gone into establishing everything that fills that house. We truly believe that Ricky and Calvin are an amazing couple and while we will miss Calvin, none of what they have built together can be or should be forgotten. Thank you for sharing some of your happiness with us Calvin & Ricky, Caitie and I are here for you!

My heart is full of so many memories and joy! Us Smoger girls were so lucky to have  Grandma Bertha as our neighbor and Calvin there  to spend summers together. We spent countless hours on Bertha’s front porch just talking and watching cars go by (very few back then). If we heard sirens we’d hop in Bertha’s car and chase the ambulance to see what was going on. Calvin and his loving Grandma are together again on heavens front porch.  Rest In Peace and Thank you Mom & Dad for buying your home next to Mrs. Cook.

My sister shared this precious photo with me. It is of my sisters, me, our beautiful mom and Calvin.  This picture was taken 15 years ago at our fathers funeral. Calvin took such gentle care of all of us at this most difficult time, as always.  As you can see Calvin has his arms around all of us.  He had his arms around ALL of us. Calvin will always be remembered in my heart. When things were rough he always made sure to put a smile on your face. My favorite memory with Calvin was spent at the Mall of America. I remember we had walked around the whole mall and we were exhausted. We went to a restaurant to have a quick snack and had the BEST nachos! That was such a fun trip! Calvin has shown and taught us kindness, caring for others, and what it means to be a friend. He always was looking out for us even if we were all the way in Wisconsin. I know that he will continue to look after us all in Heaven. Rest In Peace Calvin. You are the best Guncle! 

Ricky/Maryann, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.  Our Calvilina will forever be in our hearts, we all loved him so.  

Calvin made everyone around him comfortable and happier. I was lucky to have known him my whole life. We did a lot of growing up, running around the neighborhood with the Smoger girls, and playing Kings Korners together in Russell. His loving memory will carry on in so many people who love him dearly.

Calvin was such a beautiful person. I am so grateful that I had the privilege of meeting him. I run a store at the Mall of America where he was visiting one summer and shopped with me. We kept in touch professionally and he was always so lovely, courteous and friendly. His true colors showed when after the first shooting at the mall, he reached out to me to ask how I was doing and if I was okay. None of my other guests did that. He was one of a kind and truly a beautiful human being. He will be missed by so many.

It was always a fun time when he came to visit and spending time with him.  He will be dearly missed. 

RIP Calvin.  Many fond memories of you growing up.

Although our friendship was at the tail end of his life, Calvin left a very dear and warm Impression. Gloria and I and all the CHARLAS family will never forget Calvin and the great times we had… Short and sweet but very intense and filled with that abundance of love that he had to share with others. Calvin will be greatly missed! He was the best  person to have had the joy of growing up with in Russell when he would come stay with Grandma Bertha each summer! It was always so hard to say good bye at the end of a endless summer. He always came back to visit and we shared many good times and he was our rock during the hard times! 
Calvin loved! Calvin laughed! and Calvin lived his life with joy while  constantly spreading  joy with anyone who had the luck of meeting him. I am forever blessed to have had him in my life as a my “Big Brother” and friend! 
I’m so sorry Maryann for the loss of your beautiful Son and Ricky your soulmate.
