Dessie "Ozell" Jackson Dunn

Dessie “Ozell” Dunn, age 96, of Midland, TX passed away on October 1, 2015. Ozell was born in Orange, TX on April 12, 1919. She graduated from Coleman High School in 1935. Ozell was married to Raymond W. Dunn on March 3, 1941. They were married for 65 years.

Ozell was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed serving for 50 years alongside her husband in ministry. He pastored churches in Crane, Coleman, Abilene, Decatur, Snyder, Sweetwater, and Fort Worth, TX. Ozell was the ultimate pastor’s wife who was loved and admired by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond W. Dunn; her parents, Jim Will and Bessie Jackson; her brother, James Jackson and sisters, Opal Dunn and Gwen Jackson.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Connell and husband Jim of Midland, TX; daughter Jana Daniel and her husband Robert of Granbury, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren; Jeff and Debra Stewart of Abilene, TX; Joy and Jon Haley of Arkansas City, KS; Jill and Aaron Young of Flower Mound, TX; and Jami and Michael Todd of Midland, TX. She is also survived by two sisters; Billie Woodard of Abilene, TX and Betty Mittel of Tulare, CA. Also left to cherish her memory are great grandchildren; Zach and Nate Stewart; Blake and Blaire Haley; Daniel; Dawson and Darcy Young; Lucas and Landri Todd and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Legacy Ranch and Compass Hospice for their special, loving care of our dear mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Kelview Heights Baptist Church chapel in Midland, TX with Reverend Jon Haley, Ozell’s grandson, officiating. Burial will follow on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, TX.
