Edward Otis Greer

Edward (Edd) Otis Greer, 86, passed away on January 1, 2014. He was born on March 9, 1927 in Memphis, TN to his parents George N. Greer and Rebecca Cobb Greer. He was raised in Rayville, LA and completed school at Rayville High School. He continued on to serve in the US Army and Air Force and served during WWII.

He moved to Midland, TX in 1954 and married Evelyn June Stanley on May 10, 1955. He worked for Dowell from 1954 – 1984 and later went into business with his brother, George Greer Jr., and started Permian Petroleum Services in 1985. He was also an active member of the Cotton Flat Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn June Stanley Greer of the home. 3 Daughters: Paula Gail Greer, Daphne Jean Gee and husband James; Judy Diane Dunham and husband Mike. Grandchildren: Adison Gee and wife Melissa, Brandon Gee, Chance Gee, Breeann Dunham, Hayden Dunham; Sister: Patsy Englehart of San Angelo; Sisters-in-law: Sandra Greer and Helen Greer and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father George N. Greer, mother Rebecca Cobb Greer, daughter Vicki Lynn Greer, brother Fulton Greer, brother Roy Greer and brother George Greer Jr.

He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend who always put others first before himself. He loved to fish, play solitaire, work in his garden, watch Bill O’ Reilly, and especially loved his dog Suzy Q.

He was a man of very few words and loved to tease people and give them a hard time just to put a smile on their face. His family and friends loved him very much and will miss him greatly. He will always be remembered as being kind, generous, and the most loving person they could have in their life.

We would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who took good care of him throughout the years.

Family visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Ellis Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at Cotton Flat Baptist Church located at 6409 South State Hwy 349, Midland, TX 79706 with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
