

Eleanor Owen Kennedy, 82, of Midland, went to be with her Lord on January 15, 2012 at home, after a lengthy time in the hospital. She was married to Roger B. Kennedy for 46 years. She was born on February 17, 1929 to Ben l. and Eleanor Beale Owen in Fort Worth, Texas. She was employed at Bass Enterprises for a number of years and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Eleanor was an active member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ and really enjoyed working with her care group. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling, cooking, and especially loved visiting and playing with her grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bill Garrett; son, Owen Garrett; her brother, Benjamin Owen; and two sisters, Rosemary Eden and Dorothy Denton.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Steve Garrett, Keith Garrett, and Chris Kennedy (Robin); one daughter, Yvonne Rydeen (Dan); and six grandchildren, Josh Rydeen, Ally Rydeen, Amanda Rydeen, Ian Kennedy, Aidan Kennedy, and Logan Kennedy, as well as a host of family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Baugh officiating and interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
