Grace Miller Isbell, 98, went home to be with her Heavenly Father and love of her life, Bill, on November 7, 2016 in Midland, Texas. Grace was born in Petrolia, Texas on August 6, 1918 to Colonel Leander and Fannie Elizabeth Miller. She graduated from Parks Senior High School in 1937 in Parks, Texas. She married James “Bill” Ellis Isbell on June 5, 1942 in Starke, Florida. They were married for 57 years. She obtained her Cosmetology License in Texas and was a Beautician for Neiman Marcos in Dallas, Texas while Bill was away in World War II.
Grace was loved by everyone who knew her. She radiated love and kindness and her sweet soul shined all the time. She was always the best dressed lady wherever she went and enjoyed being spoiled by Bill. She loved to play SkipBo and put together jigsaw puzzles with her son and grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Skipbo with her grandson Tanner. Things got quite competitive sometimes and it would turn into a match of who could out-cheat the other-Grandma Grace almost always won that battle.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James “Bill” Ellis Isbell, her brothers, Horace and Kenneth Miller, her sisters, Jessie Stanford, Mae Henry and Pauline Hart.
She is survived by her beloved son, James Isbell of Midland; grandchildren, Katie Coit-Isbell, Tanner Isbell and girlfriend Jordyn Rogers, and Kristen Isbell Patrick and husband Tyson Patrick; great grandchildren, Landon James and Avery Kate; all of Midland, brothers C.L. Miller of Moran and Harold Miller of Hamlin; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved family and friends that have meant so much to her through the years. She is also survived by her special friend and caregiver Erika Vazquez; words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for your care and love for Grace.
The family would like to thank Manor Park and Hospice for the compassionate care and support of their wonderful staff. We would like to thank Dr. Shylesh Ganta for his continuous care and taking such great care of Grace.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church Anglican with the Reverend Jonathan Hartzer officiating on Tuesday, November 15 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
