

Born on February 11, 1929 in Oklahoma City, he graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and then went on to study Civil Engineering from Oklahoma A&M University in 1951. After college, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served as an advanced installation engineer for Air Force facilities in the northwest United States and in Canada during the Korean War conflict.
On June 7, 1952, he married the love of his life, Dolores Jeanne Rodesney, while he served as lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, John went to work with Mobil Oil where he had a 36 year career performing engineering work in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico ranging from facility design, surveying, oilfield construction and natural gas sales. He held professional licenses as a surveyor and engineer in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
John was a proud, devoted father to his four children and lovingly guided them from childhood through adulthood. He was involved in their activities such as scouting, coaching sports, hunting and other school-related functions. He was an active member of his church groups and, in his later years, was a member of the Confederate Air Force. He participated in many activities ranging from inventorying artifact donations to helping design, layout and set up at CAF Air Shows and facilities. John was an exceptional man, husband and father who led by example with his love of God. When something needed to be done, he was usually the first to roll up his sleeves and get to it.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Seerey, Sr. and Mary Margaret Coleman Seerey.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Jeanne Rodesney Seerey; four children- John Michael Seerey (married to Gail McCasland Seerey), Christopher George Seerey (married to Danna Ward Seerey), Jeanne Seerey Patterson (married to Jerry Patterson), and Mark Joseph Seerey (married to Diana Jordan Seerey); four grandchildren (John Michael Seerey, Jr., Jennifer Seerey Bond, Amy Seerey Roddy, and Heather Seerey Burrow); six step grandchildren; and three great grandchildren (Casey Roddy, Brooklyn Seerey, and Brinley Seerey. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Catherine Seerey Voss of Hagerstown , Maryland and brother, James Coleman Seerey of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be a Mass held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
