Kathleen Rose Castello

Kathleen Rose Castello died in Midland, Texas on April 13, 2021. She was born Kathleen Rose Rogers in Ponchatoula, Louisiana on June 19, 1927, the daughter of Charles W. Rogers and Bessie M. Rogers. She was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Known by her nickname, Kat, she met William S. (Bill) Castello on a blind date and they were married in 1950. She moved with her family to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1956. Together, they raised two sons, Joel S. Castello and David P. Castello. In addition to raising her children, Kat worked for thirty years as a typist and stenographer for the State of Louisiana. Kat was a dedicated Christian and raised her sons in the Christian faith. She had a natural elegance and sense of style, and enjoyed fashion and art. Kat was also a talented painter and worked the crossword puzzle every day. She moved to Midland in 2005 to be closer to her family. Kat is survived by her son, Joel S. Castello of Horseshoe Bay, Texas and his wife, Suzanne B. Castello, who became her best friend. She is also survived by her sister Faye Faust of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her other close friend was daughter in law Myra Glover of The Woodlands, Texas. Other survivors include granddaughters Caroline Bhargava of Austin, Texas, Marissa Castello of Vista, California, Afton Falcon of Midland, Texas, Kelly Castello of Houston, Texas, Rachel Crittenden of The Woodlands, Texas, and Sarah Beth Castello of Baytown, Texas. She is also survived by six great grandchildren. She will be interred next to her husband in Prien Memorial Park in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
