Leonard J. Hobbs

Leonard J. Hobbs, 83, of Midland, passed away January, 12, 2012 after a brief, but determined, fight with cancer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 40 years of loyal service. He was also a 40-year mason, most recently a member of Midland Masonic Lodge #623. He also served as Worthy Patron in Eastern Star Norman Reed Chapter 1010 and Goldsmith Chapter 854.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Hobbs, of Midland; son, Leonard J. Hobbs, Jr., of Dallas; daughter, Celia Burkheimer and husband, Rex, of Fort Worth; sister, Margaret Donihoo, of Philadelphia, PA.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Earl J. Hobbs and Selma Martin; brother, Casper “Douglas” Hobbs; sisters, Imogene Alexander and Wilma Peterson.

Visitation will be held at noon Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will precede the funeral service, which will start at 1:00pm in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
