Linda Lou Brooks

Linda was born on May 6, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Harry and Virginia Dobbs. When she was nine years old, her family moved to Odessa, Texas. Later they moved to Greenwood where she was a sixth grader at Greenwood Elementary. She attended Midland High School, and it was during this time she met the love of her life, and future husband, James R. Brooks. They were married April 19, 1956 in the home of her parents. Together they raised three children, Denise, Russell and Todd. Linda resided in the Greenwood community for the remainder of her life.

Linda was a beloved wife, devoted mother and cherished grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy. She remained devout in her faith through many years of suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson Joshua.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Denise and husband Mike Zachry; son, Russell and wife Cindy; son, Todd and wife Dianne; ten grandchildren, Brandon, Shanna, Brian, Jason, Justin, Jimmy, Jarrel, Aaron, Cody, Bailey and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Gayla Reed; brother, Jerry Dobbs; cousin, Gary Richardson and Aunt Maxine Richardson.

A funeral service has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Greenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
