Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at
Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, Texas with services to follow
at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will be rendered at Resthaven Memorial Park at the interment.
Loy was born March 26, 1930 in Hays, KS to Ray and Lavonne Goodheart and later raised on the family farm near Bunker Hill, KS and then moved to Russell, KS.
Loy graduated from Russell High School in 1948 and joined the Army that same year serving during the Korean War. Loy graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in geology and petroleum engineering in 1957.
Loy began a long and storied career in the oil and gas industry primarily in the Permian Basin starting with Conoco and then with Rice Engineering and Operating where he enjoyed over 45 years - the last 15 years as president.
Loy Goodheart and Jan G. Collins were married on May 28, 2005 in Midland, TX.
Loy was preceded in death by his wife Erma Goodheart.
Loy is survived by wife Jan Goodheart, Kerrville, TX; brothers Gary Goodheart (Marilyn), Greensburg, KS and Gale Goodheart (Arletta) Overland Park, KS; son Jeff Goodheart (Carol), Hamilton, MI, son Greg Goodheart, Grand Junction, CO, son Chris Goodheart, Las Cruces, NM, daughter Terri Goodheart, Dallas, TX; stepchildren Alecia Collins (Barb Donovan), Austin, TX, Amy Montano (Mike), Santa Fe, NM, Clay Collins, Midland, TX, Chad Collins, Midland, TX, Keri Breckon (Steve), Cypress, TX, Brian Smith (Melissa), Dallas, TX, Craig Smith (Sherry), Midland, TX. He was the proud grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Loy enjoyed University of Kansas Jayhawks sports, Dallas Cowboys football, playing poker and playing fetch with his canine buddy Roxie. He will be greatly missed by the many people that knew and loved him.
