

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Italy as a tail-gunner on a B-24. He was a graduate of TCU with a degree in geology. He moved to Midland, Texas with Texas Pacific Oil Company in 1970 as District Geophysicist, and later took an early retirement and opened his own office. He was a member of First Baptist Church for over 40 years and a volunteer at the Baptist Crisis Center for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin H. Gibson and Mary Gibson, two brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel; daughter, Patricia Robbins and husband Jim; son Mark Gibson and wife Elizabeth; and son Stephen Gibson and wife Sharon; three granddaughters, Katie Guist, Ashley Welch, Kari Perry, and one grandson, Andy Robbins, and one great grandson, Trace Welch; two brothers, Harve Gibson, Armon Gibson and wife Mary Ann, and one sister Evelyn Valek and husband Wesley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Hopkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
