Mike never met a stranger and always had a handshake ready. His easy smile, genuine warmth, and natural ability to make others feel welcome were hallmarks of who he was. Mike was a proud graduate of Midland High School’s Class of 1987.
Sports were Mike’s greatest passion. Following his beloved Dallas Cowboys was a highlight of every football season, and he rarely missed watching a game. He also loved baseball and basketball, proudly collecting caps and T shirts from every championship he followed. Whether it was the Cowboys, the Astros or Texas Ranger, the World Series, or the NBA Finals, Mike was all in — cheering, celebrating, and wearing the gear to prove it.
In his younger years, Mike was very active in Special Olympics. An avid bowler, he also tried his hand at basketball and baseball, embracing every opportunity to compete, make friends, and be part of a team. Those experiences brought him joy, confidence, and lifelong memories.
When he wasn’t watching or playing sports, Mike could be found enjoying his favorite game shows and classic TV. The Andy Griffith Show was a daily must, and every morning he could be heard encouraging contestants on The Price Is Right to “Come on down,” with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything he loved.
In addition to his love of sports and TV, Mike was always up for a good meal at one of his favorite restaurants. Friday night wasn’t Friday night without a hamburger, French fries, and a Coke — a simple tradition he looked forward to every week.
Mike worked in the Midland, Texas, MARC Supported Work Program for more than 20 years, where he took great pride in his work and the friendships he built along the way. After “retiring,” Mike spent his time living with his three siblings, sharing everyday moments, laughter, and the comfort of family.
He is survived by his brother Glynwood Fisher (Gilda) of Cedar Hill, TX; his sister Carolyn Wallace of Houston, TX; and his sister Bobbie Stoniecki (Michael) of Murphy, TX. He was preceded in death by his best buddy, brother in law, Kenneth Wallace, and his parents, Robert E. and Vera L. Fisher. Mike is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, with whom he was very close, and a host of extended family and friends he loved and who loved him.
Mike’s family will forever remember his laughter, his joy, and the way he made every person feel like a friend.
Services for Mike will be at Ellis Resthaven on May 15, 2026. Appropriate Dallas Cowboy gear, though not necessary, would be a way to honor his love of the team.
In lieu of flowers, or to make a memorial donation in Mike’s name, please consider Coventry Reserve (coventryreserve.org), an enrichment program for adults with special needs.
