Rodney was born in Odessa, TX on Sept 17, 1956 to Don and Dorothy Walton and attended schools in Midland, Texas.
After serving in the Army, including time in Germany, Rodney returned to Midland, Texas and was employed in Landscaping. In the early 1980’s Rodney began working with horses which he considered his top priority and cared for 365 days a year. His work and love of horses took him from Midland to Maine, Florida, San Diego, San Francisco, Colorado Springs, Tucson, Santa Fe and many other destinations around the United States.
Rodney enjoyed and loved working in landscaping which he did for many, many years for the latter part of his life. He also loved to accomplish something every day and was an artistic welder. On weekends Rodney enjoyed fishing at Oak Creek Lake and visiting with his many friends in that community. Rodney was a giver and truly loved helping anyone in need. He was fondly known as The Gophinator due to his ability to trap gophers, his total count over 400.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Peggy Lee Walton and his beloved Jack Russel Terrier “Merlin”.
Rodney is survived by his brothers Clyde R. Walton, Don R. Walton, Roy Walton and “Lisa” his friend and companion. (Jack Russel Terrier).
Rodney loved the Lord and we know he is at home in all His Glory.
From his brother Roy:
“Rodney you were not only my brother but my best friend and I will miss you dearly. I know you are up there pain free and taking care of mom and dad and all of our loved ones. I’m sure Merlin and Snoopy ran up to greet you in heaven. When my time comes, we will all be together again!! Until then, rest peacefully in heaven”. Love Roy.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the Doctors, many caregivers, family and friends for all the love and prayers during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Creek Lake at a later date.
