Simon was born and raised in Marathon, Texas by Juan and Gabina Villa. He attended school in Marathon and was a ranch hand for many years in the Marathon area, working for several ranches as a young cowboy. His passion as a young boy was to ride bareback broncs. His love for the ranch and cowboy life was evident by his love for country living.
Simon is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nicki Rodriguez, four daughters; Patsy, Pamela, Nancy and Simona, and stepson Rob Allen, three sisters; Anita, Juana, and Lupe, and one brother; Polo Rodriguez. He is also survived by his adopted sisters; Adell, Margie, Sylvia, Dolores, and Mimi, three adoptive brothers; Kiko Villa, Oscar Villa, and Juan Villa Jr.
