Obituary of Barbara Hamilton Fraley
Barbara Hamilton Fraley left this earth and entered into the Heavenly Kingdom on May 4, 2024 at 92 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Charles (Charlie) Bruce Fraley; her parents, Charles and Viola Hamilton; her brother John Hamilton and sisters Bette Eubank and Lee Hamilton. She is survived by sons Bruce (Randi) and Ed, and two grandchildren Kevin and Lauren (Tom). She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew, as well as grand nieces and nephews. Barbara was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 10, 1931 and attended Thomas Jefferson High School where she met the love of her life, Charlie Fraley. She continued her education at Mary Washington College obtaining her teaching degree. Upon graduation, she and Charlie married. They settled in the Bon Air area of Chesterfield County where she became an elementary school teacher. Upon the birth of her two boys, Barbara elected to become a substitute teacher at Bon Air Elementary. Barbara picked up tennis as an adult and became quite well known on the local tennis circuit. She played for over 50 years at Bon Air Community Association, Briarwood (ACAC) and Willow Oaks Country Club. She and Charlie bought a vacation home in Virginia Beach, still enjoyed by the family. While there, she continued her tennis game at Princess Anne Country Club. Religion was an extremely important part of Barbara's life. She attended church at New Life Outreach International Church. She attended and taught many Bible classes over the course of her life. The family will hold a visitation at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, located at 1020 Huguenot Road, on Friday May 10th from 4 - 6 PM. A private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
