Carl Alwin Rutgers, 84, of Richmond, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne Arden Rutgers. He is survived by his children, Jeanne Martin and husband, Don, Lizabeth Rutgers and husband, Scott Wheeler, Thomas Rutgers and wife, Farley; a sister, Marie Bills; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Rutgers was retired from A.M.F. as an engineer, was a member of Saint Michael's Episcopal Church, served as a Mason, and was a veteran with the Naval Reserve. He was a devoted, loving husband and father whose family meant the world to him. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. Interment will be private.
