Carroll “Tex” Griggs, 88, widower of Gerry Griggs, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Halling; sister, Wilma; and brother, Al. He leaves behind grandchildren, Sandra, Travis, Angela, Jenifer, and Lori; and great-granddaughter Emily.
Tex was a federal employee of 43 years, and retired as the Deputy Director of Administrative Services for the Interior Department. During World War II, he served as a Seaman with the United States Merchant Marines.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held 10am Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Burial with honors to follow at 1pm in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va. In lieu of flowers donations in Tex’s name should be made to the Smith Point Sea Rescue. www.smithpointsearescue.com.
