It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance Loretta O'Donnell, lovingly known as Connie O'Donnell, who departed this life peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 28th, at the age of 80.
A cherished mother, devoted wife, beloved grandmother, and dear friend, Connie resided in Midlothian, Virginia, where her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. Born on October 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Connie was the youngest of seven children born to Mary Virginia Carter Tragesser and Alphonse Charles Tragesser. She is now reunited with her siblings, all of whom preceded her in death, in the loving embrace of the Lord.
In 1989, Connie and her family made the decision to relocate to Midlothian, Virginia. There, she found a spiritual home at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, where her devotion was unwavering. An active member of the church choir, Connie poured her heart into her faith, using her voice to uplift others in worship. She was a beacon of hope and compassion, dedicating her time to volunteer at local homeless shelters and engaging in various community outreach programs throughout the Richmond area. Connie enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from Columbia Gas and later from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Yet, her greatest joy came from her family.
She is survived by her devoted and beloved husband of 58 years, David O'Donnell, and their three cherished children: son David O'Donnell, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia; son Daniel O'Donnell of St. Augustine, Florida; and daughter Tammy Elizabeth Diorio of Key West, Florida. Connie's legacy will continue through her four grandchildren: Daniel Emory O'Donnell, Elizabeth Paige O'Donnell, Kalie Elizabeth Hadlow, and Rylan Patrick O'Donnell, and great granddaughter Lily Jean Hadlow who brought her immense joy and pride.
The family invites friends to join them in celebrating Connie's remarkable life this Thursday evening, March 6th, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Woody’s Funeral Home, located at 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 1 PM at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, located at 2700 Dolefield Drive, North Chesterfield, Virginia 23235.
As we remember Connie, let us hold close the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the spirit of kindness she embodied. Her light will forever shine in our hearts, guiding us with love and faith until we meet again.
