You and Lori were such a fun part of my childhood on Justin Ave.  I think of you often. JC 

Lorrene and Danny were dear friends of my parents.  Not sure how  it came to be, but when Lorrene was single, she lived with my family in East Meadow, Long Island.  Way back then Renee as we called her,  would take my sisters on the bus to shop in Hempstead. I believe it was my dad, John Houghey who gave Renee away  at the alter!  My parents, Renee and Dan remained the closest of friends through the years and the miles that separated them. Renee was an amazing cook and grew her own tomatoes and eggplant  in Staten Island as well as Richmond to make her specialty dish Eggplant Parmesan.  Danny just adored Lorrene! He was the most loving  kind man, and truly treasured his memories.  
Danny was  multi talented. Even in his senior years he maintained his creativity, writing essays, collecting and polishing gems and crystals,  painting,  woodworking  and music. He  even embraced the internet , and we maintained contact through email.  
I know Danny and Lorrene are celebrating in heaven. Please give John and Louise hugs for me. 

Dan was such a sweet man.  We lived on the same street as Dan and always enjoyed talking with him on subjects from woodworking (from many years ago) to art, books, hobbies, travel, history, etc.  I thought of him as a renaissance man and he was so easy to talk with.  I know he will be missed by his family and friends, but also know that he is at peace now that he is reunited with his beloved Lori.  Our sincere sympathy to Dan's family.

To Cindy and all the family:
I have been blessed to get to know Dan.  I enjoyed our conversations and he truly was an inspiration  to me.  
As written by others, he was knowledgeable about many topics and always wanted to know more.  Swapping stories and  experiences over the past few years encouraged me.  
I shall miss sitting at his table and sharing a cup of coffee and exploring ideas.  I know that he now has the answers of the "what's next" as he is with his beloved Lorrene.
God's blessings and comfort to you who loved him dearly.  

Uncle Danny , I will miss you,  for on our visits, you would keep us laughing till our sides hurt.  Your first " Outhouse  incounter will stick with me forever " I know you are in Heven now with Aunt Lorine and my Mom Frances.  Your love  for your family and friends  was AWESOME.  Missing  you. Buddy.

I only new Dan a few years during which I visited and experienced his wonderful company. A man with  tremendous varied interests and avid collector, he was eager to teach and share. My grandson and I visited several times and it was so much fun to watch and listen to the 91  and the 10 year old discuss their rock collection amongst other things.
I said goodbye to Dan on Christmas eve and it was good. He seemed ready. Love you Dan.

Hundreds of visits to Dan's (and Lori's) table for meals and coffee over the past 32 years.  Dan and Lori moved next door to us in January, 1988...we moved to our house three months earlier.
What interesting and fun times we had.  Lori was a fireball.  She saw we had planted a couple of trees in our front yard and said "you need an island".  I said "too much work".  I look out the front window and in short order Lori had a pick and shovel  AND  AN  ISLAND.  The island is still there today.
What an unlikely couple in my eyes.  Lori from South West Virginia with 17 brothers and sisters and Dan a born and bred New Yorker who was well read...knew something about everything..or at least he made you think that he did.  A great story teller and friend all these years.
They were so different but so much in LOVE with each other.
He will truly be misses by our family and friends.   Jack Pollard

32 years adds up to 1000’s of memories with Dan. Our coffee breaks, lunches and dinners lead me on an amazing adventure with a man I greatly admired. He was sharp, witty, knowledgeable and a treasure to b around . He never understood why our friends loved him so. To b in his company was such fun and always a surprise n store.
Losing my dear friend will b an absence hard to fill.

Uncle Danny you are missed more than words can express.  The stories - the laughter - our banter back and forth over so many subjects. The best mozzarella omelets - pancakes - or just hard boiled eggs - each and every breakfast was so special.  How I long to hear just one more story! I'm so glad you are at peace and in the arms of Aunt Lorrene.  As I told you many many times I am happy for you but sad for me.  I will remember everything you taught me.  I'd like to think I am a better person because of you!!!
