

Danny was born on November 5, 1946, in Salem, VA.
He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Rachel Baker and his brother Jerry Baker. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn S. Baker; his son Bradley Baker (Elizabeth) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and his son Scott A. Shelor of Richmond, VA, and his grandchildren Sebastian and Noah Baker and Reed, Britney and Ethan Shelor. He is also survived by two brothers, Stephen Baker (Judy) and Chris Baker (Judy), two sisters, Sharon Jean Hartman and Karen Dawn Turner (John) and 11 nieces and nephews.
Danny had an Associate Degree from Ferrum College where he played basketball. He also attended Roanoke College. He worked in the floor covering business in sales and management, and he also worked in the Dryvit business in outside sales and served as Vice-President of the Home Builders Association during that time. Later he was with Weyerhauser in outside sales.
Danny was an active member of Bon Air United Methodist Church for 34 years. During this time he served on Church Council and many other committees in the church. He was a member of the Christian Home Class and served as President for a number of years. He loved heading up the Spaghetti Dinner which was a mission outreach for the class for 26 years. He also served as Commissioner of the Chesterfield Little League Basketball Association for 4 years. Danny was lead singer in his band, Midlife Crisis. He loved to travel, especially cruising, loved all sports and his favorite team was the Yankees. Danny loved eating out with friends and many mornings you could find him at Bob Evans Restaurant with his newspaper and a cup of coffee.
He was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
A Celebration of Danny's life will be held at Bon Air United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 10 at 11 am and a reception will follow. Visitations will be Monday, January 9 from 4 pm to 7 pm in the Commons at Bon Air United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date in the Memorial Garden.
