She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph Redmond. Her memory and spirit live on in her three daughters, Shannon Garrett-Redmond, Heather Johnson, and Melissa Cary. She is forever cherished by her seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, her sisters Barbara Fiore and Kathy Davis along with many other family members and friends.
Denise spent most of her early years in Lynchburg. She attended James Madison University and was at the cutting edge of computer programming at its inception. She was a dedicated and selfless military spouse, traveling the world with her family. Greece was a memorable favorite as newlyweds making the most out of two VMI chairs, a card table, and a gas stove. It soon became the birthplace of their first born. This adventure was followed by many more, including some airline aversion and furniture hunting in Germany. As the family grew, adventures expanded from castle tours to Scrabble games, always creating lasting memories. Denise was a gifted artist in many forms. From drawing to fine jewelry making, she focused her creativity on making beautiful things for those she loved.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm with a time for prayer at 5:30pm on Thursday May 22, 2025, at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel. 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
