Douglas Dean Reed

Our beloved Douglas D. Reed of Midlothian, Virginia, age 70, passed away on June 22, 2025. A dedicated parent and loving husband, Doug filled our lives with love and kindness, providing a Christian example. He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Miller), son, Jason Reed (Samantha Vrscak), and daughter, Victoria Reed (John Sweat, Janet and Jason).

Doug was born in Hammond, Indiana to Dean and Nell Reed, the oldest of their four children.

Doug and Sherry met at NIPSCO and were married on July 20, 1979.

Doug was an electrical and mechanical engineer (Purdue University), ending his forty-two-year career in the power industry at Dominion Power as a licensed engineer, MBA, and Fellow of ASME.

As a member of Grace Bible Church, Doug served by playing guitar and bass on the worship team, merging his love of music with the worship of our Lord.

Doug loved travel and the outdoors, visiting our country’s most beautiful landscapes with his family and travelling overseas with his wife.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 30th at the Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, at 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113, followed by a service at 12:30 p.m.
