He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Maxine Sussman Coffman and his siblings Kirk Coffman, Jackie Meador, Carl Ray Coffman and Nelson Coffman.
He is survived by his daughters Courtney Coffman Fry and Paige Coffman Magness (Brandon) and grandchildren McKay Sue Magness, Brady Marshall Fry and Sutton Dupree Magness.
Born in Floydada, TX on September 4, 1932. He left home in 1947 to ride horses. His thoroughbred racing career as a professional jockey spanned the U.S. over 25 years, including a start in the Preakness in 1965. He subsequently trained thoroughbreds and spent most of his adult life in South Florida with his wife of 53 years ,Judith, and daughters Courtney and Paige.
He loved horses, all animals, cigars, western novels, country music and southern food. He was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather, and enjoyed his later years in Virginia with Paige and Brandon and their children.
