WOOD, Gordon Enoch, of Richmond, formerly of Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord Monday, April 26, 2010. Second oldest of seven, he was preceded in death by his six brothers. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Moorefield Wood; two sons, Dr. Roger E. Wood (Monette) of Midlothian and Bruce G. Wood (Bonnie) of Goochland; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Wood, born to Will and Minnie Wood of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, served in Italy during WWII. He was employed for 40 years at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was also a part-time carpenter. Wood, a longtime member of Tidewater Primitive Baptist Church in Norfolk, moved his membership to Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Amelia following his move to Richmond in late 2005.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va.
