

Born to parents, William J. and Rebecca Anderson Wood in 1929, he had five siblings precede him in death, William J. Wood, Jr, Richard Wood, Douglas Wood, Carol Baker and Becki Patrick. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Peggy McGlohon Wood (in 2003), and two of his sons, James A. Wood, Jr., and Robert A. Wood.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Kathleen of 20 years, her four children, Richard Pulley, Suzanne Klacik, Leonard Pulley, Karen Smalara and 10 grandchildren, plus 8 great grandchildren. He is survived by his son Michael W. Wood, daughters-in-law Nancy Wood, and Jewel Wood. Jimmy has 4 grandchildren, Morgan Balch (Mark), David Wood (Natalie), and Daniel and Steven Wood. He has 4 great grandchildren (Wyatt and Whitley Balch, and Romy and Summer Wood) all living in the Richmond area.
Jimmy was a master builder in Richmond for many years. He loved the game of golf and in the past belonged to Meadowbrook, Willow Oaks, and Stonehenge Country Clubs. Through the years he won many golf championships at these and other clubs. He also loved to hunt, fish and spend time on his boats here and in Florida. Jimmy excelled in everything he touched from entertaining to home building to business to sports. Kathleen and Jimmy also enjoyed traveling with his brother-in-law and his wife, Wayne and Charlotte McGlohon in past years on many occasions.
There will be a Catholic Mass at St. Peters Catholic Church, 800 E. Grace Street, Richmond, VA 23218 on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Dress is modest attire.
The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113. Dress is modest attire.
