Obituary of Juanita Seward Coleman
Juanita Seward Coleman - beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully late in the morning of Monday, November 16, 2020. She was 90 years old. Her daughters were beside her, providing love and comfort. She is survived by her brother, Robert Seward; her five children, Joy, Danny, Anne, Bob, and Frank; her five grandchildren, Claren, Louis, Shelby, Eric and Grace; and her three great-grandchildren, Sophie, Sarah, and Rucker. Juanita was born in Newport News, Virginia on October 11, 1930 to Frank Abner and Annie Irene Seward. She met her future husband, Clarence Linwood Coleman Jr. (“Linwood” or “Lin”), while they both attended Lynchburg College. Upon graduation, they married and traveled to Tennessee where Linwood attended seminary at Vanderbilt University. Juanita was a loving and devoted mother and minister’s wife as their family grew. The Colemans moved to Bon Air, Virginia in 1971, when Linwood became the minister of Bon Air Christian Church. Eventually, Juanita took a job as a kindergarten teacher at Bon Air Elementary School. She was a gifted, loving, and much-beloved figure at BAES. She touched the lives of countless students and fellow teachers, many of whom remember her fondly to this day. The family lost Linwood in December of 1999. Since that time, Juanita has been the constant and loving central pillar of the family, always there to offer comfort, humor, love, and wisdom. Juanita took tremendous joy in her entire family, a feeling that was reciprocated by all. She will always be remembered for her bright, welcoming smile that was seemingly omnipresent, her strong Christian faith, her humility and grace, and the tremendous love and joy she shared with all those with whom she came into contact. A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Dale Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 25. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made in her name to Bon Air Christian Church or FeedMore.org. Online condolences may be made at woodyfuneralhomehuguenot.com.
