I want to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your dad.  I have way too many memories to pick just one but I want you to know that my prayers are with you. I know exactly what you are going through.  I was planning on coming in but can't make it. Hopefully we can all get together soon on a better occasion .  We can meet on Bonanza Street!! I may not live there but it is still my home. You guys let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Sharon has my number. Keep in touch. Love you all

I have such fond memories of visiting all of you in Richmond and of Uncle Lodias taking us fishing. I loved him much.   You have my sympathy.

This is Phil Smith your cousin.  Enjoyed the visits we had in Richmond.   Great memories fishing with Uncle Lodius and Perry.   Prayers and thoughts are with you all.   Glad Uncle is with dad. 

What a special man. He treated me like one of his own even after all the years that had passed, from divorcing Perry, to Perry's funeral. I fit right in. We used to bet on Nascar,  he always took the Alabama gang and I always took the greatest ever Dale Earnhardt. Matter of fact. I think he must have still owed me money lol. When I married Perry, Dad gave me a rolling pin and said to use it on him if necessary and if that didn't work I could always call him and he'd take care of it. Sharon, Vicki, Rhonda and Shawn, you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I could be there. You all did right by your Dad and if he knew nothing else, he knew he was loved...R.I.P. Smitty you will be missed. Love you all

Well first let me apologize cause this may be my second post who knows with all the technology today I thought I lost my first post so sorry just in case. My dad was a very head strong man a stubborn but proud man. I see some of him in each of us. Mostly we stand our ground for what we believe in and as tiny as Rhonda is she won't back down, that is very memorable trait of dads. He came to live with me 4+ years ago he really liked it in the city, pretty girls jogging everywhere. He spent most of his time looking out the window. I told him I was gonna sit him out there with a score card for the joggers, but of course he came back with he was thinking about going out there and falling down to see how many would help him up. Lord that man kept me laughing, then vicky moved in with us which was a great help cause I had to work and she would be there with dad. I didn't know what kind of trouble them 2 would get into, but they did good together. About 2 and a half years ago dad got to a point where he couldn't stand in shower by his self,so my friend Charles. Koenig and would do the showers shave would even come to my house at lunch and get him up and feed his lunch. He allowed my dad to maintain his dignity a bit longer. Cause my dad was not one to let his daughter do that for him until the time came where he didnt know that I was the one changing him and cleaning him. It was not easy by no means,he would fight me cuss at me but to me it was rewarding. I didn't know that then but I do now. Shawn you were his pride and joy his apprentice,Rhonda you were his most organized head on straight daughter, Vicky you were his kind, funny strong when you need to be daughter and I think I'm just as stubborn as he was daughter. You will greatly be missed but we catch a glimpse of u now and then in each of us

I rem meeting him manys years ago an he always made me laugh an even when he was lying in his hospital bed I would say  meg an he would repeat it.I'll miss helping him the times I did I'll miss his funniest an sweetness god got a great man who keep you laughing. rip in peace dad.


Uncle Lodias was a wonderful man. I remember sitting in Dad's house listening to the two of them recount their time growing up in Mississippi. Boy could those two get into trouble- but they always got out of it- together. He used to get up with the sun and walk Dad's and my property accompanied by all the dogs. He was always at peace in those woods. I know he is at peace now. I will never forget you, Uncle Lodias!

The very first time I ever had fried oysters was at your house when I was about 12 or 13. I loved them, then. Now, not so much. I was so very thankful that you and Dad were able to spend a lot of time together these past several years sharing stories of your younger days in Mississippi.  Dad would share those stories with us and he would just sit there with a smile on his face.  Thank you for all the wonderful times we had when we would go to Richmond to visit.  I have enjoyed looking at the pictures.  I take it that you loved to fish. Well, you are now where the fishing is the best, among the best.

Uncle Lodias, I will always remember you for your love of the outdoors, especially the fishing trips on your boat those many years ago. Dad used to tell me a lot of stories of the two of you growing up in Mississippi.  He always treasured those memories,  and we would laugh together at some of those moments.  Rest peacefully,  Uncle Lodias, I know the fishing is great where you are! 

Note to Dad:
      You were an amazing man in so many ways, your love, support and strength was absolutely astonishing. You fought so hard to not leave us, but God had great plans for you. Your legacy will live on through generation after generation, so many wonderful stories to share.
       Those amazing fishing trips and tournaments are priceless! Thanks to you for teaching so many how to catch that great fish, otherwise known to all of us as "Bubba". I will miss those nights of sitting in the boat striving to be as strong as you and not fall asleep, but if I did you would always wake me up, you did not want me to miss that opportunity of catching "Bubba". Oh how I will miss those times!
        I know there is a big fishing trip planned in Heaven right now and you are leading the way and teaching a special little girl how to catch her first fish.
        One day we will meet again and once more I can fish with you. It will be a wonderful family day!    I love you dad,  Love Rhonda
        P.S. If you play a game of monopoly with Perry don't let him be the banker, remember he always cheated and stole money from the bank!
