Mary Martin Murdock

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Louise Martin.

Mary is survived by her children, Adrienne Burdsall and her husband Lloyd, and Woody Murdock and his wife Kim; her brothers Paul Martin, Jr. (the Bubba to her Sissy) and Russell Martin; her grandchildren Veronica and Caroline Burdsall, and Ann and Cody Murdock; her niece Meredith Moore and her husband Keith; as well as numerous loving cousins and family members.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Richmond, Virginia, where she graduated from Huguenot High School in 1963. She earned her Bachelor of Science in medical technology from the Medical College of Virginia. Mary worked in healthcare for her entire career, retiring from MCV Health where she worked as a medical technologist in the Children's Pavilion, handing out smiles, stickers and band-aids along the way.

Mary was tiny in stature, but huge in heart and spirit. She was devoted to her parents, having lived with her father in his later years to care for him. She loved her brothers Bubba and Russy through thick and thin. Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing seamstress, winning a high school sewing competition and catering to Adrienne's every fashion whim. Mary was a great cook, specializing in her family's favorites - Mexican casserole, tuna casserole, beef stroganoff and many other tasty meals. Her spaghetti & meatballs was in a class of its own!

Mary was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and during her years there served in various roles including being a member of the choir, the handbell choir and the history committee. She also served as a Deaconess and a Sunday School teacher.

There will be a visitation hosted at Woody Funeral Home on Thursday, April 27 at 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. There will be a funeral service at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Friday, April 28 at 11 AM, followed by a graveside service at the church cemetery.
