She is survived by sons Larry and Mark; daughters (in-love) Mary and Denise; grandsons Mike, Charles (Woody) Jr, and Nasir; granddaughters Chamara, Marquisha, and Aliyah; great-grandsons Charles III, Jeremiah, Malcolm and Caleb; great-granddaughters Nova and Amal; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Nelva was born in Sutton, WV to Charles and Nellie Ann Tingler. She relocated to Cincinnati, OH at the age of 14. There she met her husband Thaddeus (Fred) and married on October 15, 1950. She was a member of Gaines United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities over the years. Nelva earned her nursing license in 1962 and worked at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati until injury forced her to retire early.
Nelva enjoyed many things in life including travel and reading, but nothing brought her more joy than being around family and friends. Always the nurse, Nelva spent a large part of her life caring for and tending to those in need. She believed this was God’s purpose for her in this life and in this she truly excelled. Her life was a testament to the Christian values of LOVE, Compassion, Integrity and Justice.
The family of Nelva Paul would like to express our gratitude for the many expressions of kindness, concern and LOVE during our bereavement. The knowledge that our LOVED one touched so many lives brings us great comfort.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM.
