Patricia Joan Champlin was born in New York City and went to be with her Lord on March 6, 2022, while in the care of the Mary B's area of Bickford Senior Living. Patricia grew up in Queens, New York and attended Richmond Hill High School. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Jeanette King and her beloved husband, Calvin. She is survived by her son Michael, his wife Betty and grandson John. She also wanted to thank Debbie Harper for all she has done for her as part of a special friendship.
Patricia worked for most of her adult life first at a country club. She then managed Mike's Stationery in Lynbrook, NV. She later was hired by the Nassau County Court system where she started as a clerk/typist. After taking Civil Service Tests Patricia rose to Deputy Chief Clerk which is as high as you can go without a law degree. She retired after twenty- five years and moved with Calvin to Richmond, Virginia to be closer to Michael, Betty and John.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards, crocheting, cooking and attending various events including sports contests and singing engagements by her son and the groups that he performed with locally. She became a big fan of both Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Richmond Spiders while living in Virginia. Traveling and dining out were enjoyed by Patricia.
She was slowly taken away from her husband and family as Alzheimer's decreased her cognitive abilities. It became necessary to move Patricia into the Mary B's at Bickford where she received excellent care, particularly from Rhonda. Patricia was very fond of Rhonda and enjoyed their time together.
There will be a graveside service at Dale Memorial in Chesterfield on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception at Mike's law office at 14343 Sommerville Court, Midlothian, VA 23113. No flowers please. If you wish to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association @http:/act.alz.org/donate, that would be greatly appreciated.
