Patrick Desmond Fitzpatrick

FITZPATRICK, Patrick Desmond, 86, of Richmond, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Grace Ann Fitzpatrick; parents, Alice Kelly and Bernard Fitzpatrick; his brother, Peter; and his sister, Eileen. He leaves behind his six children, Brian T. Fitzpatrick, Patricia A. Matthews and husband, Richard L., Kevin M. Fitzpatrick and wife, Zorica, Linda F. Marks, Denis J. Fitzpatrick and wife, Laurie, Nancy J. Burks and husband, Ret. CDR. Eric H. Burks; daughter-in-law, Betty B. Fitzpatrick; 13 grandchildren, Meghan, Erin and fiance, Eric, Colin, Ryan, Andrew, Lauren, Katie, Libby, Keith, Jacob, Dylan, Shelby and Josh; as well as Caitlin and Morgan; his sister, Sheila and her husband, Robert “Bobby Tuff” Sansosti; and many nieces and nephews.

He was an employee of Ethyl Corporation for 41 years, where he retired as vice president of Finance/Corporate Controller. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army’s 5th Armored Division, 4th Degree Knight of The Knights of Columbus, St. Edward’s Council # 6546, and former Board of Trustee member of Benedictine High School and St. Edward’s Parish.

He enjoyed cruises and vacations at the beach with his wife and family and was a lifelong fan of the New York/San Francisco Giants. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Virginia Cancer Institute at St. Francis and Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital at the Johnston-Willis campus.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Rd. Interment private.
