Dunn was my mentor my first year at Chesterfield County Public Schools. I was new to the county and didn't know how everything worked. He helped me get oriented and gave me lots of material to use for my class. Every day he would drop by my room and ask "You good? Need anything?". He was also a master at shooting the breeze, if I went by his room I was guaranteed to have a 30 minute conversation about whatever topic you could think of. He was a good man and will be missed.

Richard was a wonderful man, he also had a great family, and a family that allowed him to give back to so many other people. I know I was blessed to have him in my life for the short time that he was with me working with youth in groups  includingAcademy 360, the  American Legion Post 354, Rubious Middle School - Boys to Men Mentoring of Va - he gave and gave and asked for nothing in return. He was truly a man of service Richard you will be miss my brother.  Your quick wit and laughter and giving back to so many can never be replaced. ❤️

You are so truly missed! I thank you from the bottom of my heart and wished I would have said it to you in person for helping my son and coaching him to step out of his comfort zone! You have truly left an imprint on him and it means a ton! You coached him to join Boys to Men and he has loved every second of it and now his mission is to keep pushing on and staying connected with the mentors and the young men! Thank you once again!! My condolences to your family!! Rest In Heavenly Peace!!! Gone too soon!!!

Richard and I mentored at Robious Middle School for many years. His wisdom, energy, and dedication will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I’m going to miss Richard at ROPAW’s and Monday night circles working side by side with my friend. I would always end thanking him and he would say “oh stop that”. He was a kind man and had a very big heart for our BTM boys.

My deepest condolences go out to your family. I came into contact with my kitchen chef through many Boys to men events . Where Mr . Dun would always say  Creative get out my kitchen ain’t no food here … Then as I take my steps he would call me back and say here you go creative , I knew what you was looking for .. Each young man that would come around Mr. Dun would always light up and be so much in joy … He really had a powerful impact of the youth and the mentors of Boys to Men

Words just can't express how much I appreciated Mr Richard. My Condolences go out to his family. Thank you for all you did and all the lives you saved. Rest in peace my brother.

I worked with Richard many times while he was with RPD and I was with RSO. He was a fine man and friend and he will be missed.  He also taught my two sons while he was a teacher at Meadowbrook HS.  RIP  my friend🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

So very sad to hear.  He was a great cop.  Very knowledgeable.  He taught me a lot.   God bless him and my thoughts go out to his family.   May his memory be a source of comfort to all that knew him.

My condolences to Ritchie’s family. I worked with him on the streets of Richmond. He was a great cop and a good man. Always quick with his sharp wit and  he never missed an opportunity. 
We will miss you brother. Rest in peace.

Your dedication to your community and family is something to be remembered, admired, and cherished. The world has lost a great man but your legacy will carry on. We all miss you. Thank you for your service, support, and guidance.

Richard is missed at CARP already. He will be fondly remembered for his commitment and dedication in service to the young people he worked with every day, and for his generosity in going above and beyond to help others. This is a testament to a life well lived. To his wife, children, and grandchildren, you were the source of Richard’s greatest pride and joy. May your memories bring you comfort.

Richard Dunn was a valuable teacher at CARP (Chesterfield Adolescent Recovery Pathway) for the past few years.  The students enjoyed his joking ways and benefited from his knowledge of Social Studies and Economics. He will be missed by all students and staff. He loved to talk to the staff about his family and other endeavors where he volunteered.  I am sending prayers of comfort to his family, because I'm sure they are missing him.

On behalf of the Chesterfield Adolescent Resource Pathways (CARP) staff and students, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the Dunn family during this tremendous loss. Mr. Dunn was such an important part of our daily lives, and his absence is deeply felt. His laughter, kindness, and constant willingness to help others were a daily reminder of the good that still exists in the world. He was truly a bright light, and we are deeply grateful for the many years we were blessed to know him.
