

ARMENTROUT, Robert L., 78, died on December 18, 2013, at his home in Richmond. He was born on August 17, 1935 in Saginaw, Mich., to Chester W. and Mabel Pfeiffer Armentrout. He graduated from Fluvanna County High School in 1953 and attended Hampton-Sydney College for two years. In 1958, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned to the Army Missile Brigade School, Ft. Bliss, Texas. He was an instructor in radio maintenance and repair. He was discharged from the Army in 1961 and went to work for American Telephone and Telegraph in Richmond, Va., in October 1961. For many years he worked with the Long Lines Television Service. He retired from AT&T in July 2000.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janet; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas J. and Mary R. Armentrout of Wake, Va.; and his cousin, Suzanne A. Russell of Kalkaska, Mich. At Bob's request, no funeral will be held. He will be cremated and his remains interred in Janet's family cemetery in Dickenson County, Va., at a later date.
The family will receive friends on January 6, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody's Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd.
