

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Violet Chaffe; and his dog, Shakespeare.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Chaffe; his daughter, Laura Chaffe (Jay) her children, Sam and Cate Felvey and their father, Will; his son, Thomas Chaffe (Monica) and grandson, William Chaffe; and his beloved dog, Fawn.
Roger prepared at Louisville Country Day School in Louisville KY, graduated from Yale University and University of Virginia School of Law. He had a varied career, doing private practice and corporate law, but he always said the most fulfilling was working for the Attorney General, serving for 31 years under 8 elected Attorney Generals. Throughout his 50 year career he received numerous accolades and citations. Following retirement, he was appointed to Virginia State Air Pollution Control Board (Chairman 2012-2014), he served as a hearing officer at the Virginia Supreme Court and practiced law with his son.
He loved the Yankees, the Cowboys, the stock market, politics and spending time his family and his dogs.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 27, at Jepson Alumni Center, 442 Westhampton Way, University of Richmond, 23173.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Richmond Animal League.
