

Roger Thomas “Tom” Vergne, 62, of Richmond, entered eternal life on December 15, 2014. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on August 26, 1952 to his loving parents, Lovell and Winnie Vergne. Tom grew up in Vanceburg, Ky., and he graduated from Morehead State University. Tom served in the Army for four years, and then he worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers in St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Richmond. Tom retired as the Chief of Fiscal Service from the H. H. McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond on July 3, 2014, after 39 years of combined military and government service. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Teresa Vergne; his daughter, Leia Vergne; his son, Matthew Vergne; and two granddaughters, Sophie and Abbie Vergne. Tom was loved by his family at the Southwest Church of Christ, in Chesterfield, and his friends and co-workers at the VA medical center. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 18, at 10 a.m. with a celebration of life at 11 a.m. at the Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Va.
