Ron was born and raised on a small farm in Hobbsville, NC. He always believed that working on the farm in his youth instilled a work ethic that helped him succeed in life. He graduated from Chowan High School in 1966 and from North Carolina State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1970. Following graduation from NC State, Ron went to work for his local electric utility, Virginia Electric and Power Company, now known as Dominion Energy, where he had a long and successful career in engineering and management positions in both Fossil and Hydro Generation and Nuclear Generation. Most of his career was in Nuclear Operations with leadership positions in Nuclear Fuel Engineering, Nuclear Project Engineering, and Nuclear Oversight. Ron believed that his career at Dominion Energy was enriched by his association with so many engineering and staff professionals with whom he worked on a daily basis. Ron retired in 2010 and lived a busy life on his mini farm in Powhatan. Throughout his life in the Richmond area, Ron was a member at Huguenot Road Baptist Church.
