

Sandra Russell Elliott, 84, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Sandra was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose deep faith in Jesus Christ and radiant joy in life touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on February 11, 1941, in Richmond, Virginia, Sandra lived her entire life in the city she cherished. She poured her heart into her family, and career as a pre-school teacher, where her gentle spirit and warmth nurtured countless young children, planting seeds of kindness and curiosity. Her love for teaching was matched only by her devotion to her family and her Savior.
Sandra’s faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her with grace and compassion. She found immense joy in celebrating Christmas, a season that reflected her love for Christ’s birth and the warmth of family gatherings. Each year, she filled her home with festive decorations, music, and the spirit of giving, creating cherished memories for her children and grandchildren.
Sandra was predeceased by her beloved husband, Allen Stuard Elliott, with whom she shared a life rooted in love and faith. She is survived by her children, Mark Elliott (Leslie), Greg Elliott (Mary), and Angela Merrick (Justin); her cherished grandchildren, Savannah Elliott, Andrew Elliott, Virginia Merrick, Elliott Merrick, Megan Powell (Jason), and Jake Thomas (Brooke); her great-grandchildren, Weston Thomas, Waylon Thomas, Mason Powell, and Jase Powell; her dear sister, Linda Bell (Tommy); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her light forward.
Her home was a haven of love and celebration, where the joy of Christmas and the peace of Christ’s presence were ever-present. Sandra’s legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion lives on through her family, who will continue to honor her by living with the same love she shared so freely.
A memorial service will be held at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with family visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. A graveside service will follow immediately at Dale Memorial Park, and all are welcome to attend. A reception will follow the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Samaritan’s Purse or the Acts 1:8 Fund at Parkway Church North Chesterfield.
