Virgil Fisher Safritt

91, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in his home surrounded by family. He was born October, 3, 1926, in Buckingham, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles B. and Eva S. Safritt; brothers, Charles B. Safritt Jr. and Paul M. Safritt; and sister, Ruth S. Foldesi. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernice F. Safritt; son, Myron (Melissa) Safritt; daughter, Anita (Ron) Caudill; grandchildren, Candi (Drew) Bowles, Shelly Caudill, Clayton (Kim) Safritt, Stacie (Dave) Anderson, Caleb (Nikki) Caudill, Shane Caudill; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Amelia Winn. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He retired from BFGoodrich Tire Company. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 63 years. In addition to the many areas of service at Immanuel, he also gave of his time to the Braille Circulating Library, Scripture Memory Mountain Mission, Woodmen of the World and numerous widows. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on June 14, 2018, at Woody Funeral Home on Huguenot Road and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on June 15, 2018, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3601 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va., where the service will be held at 11 a.m. The burial will begin at 3 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Rd., Chesterfield, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Missions Project Fund or Scripture Memory Mountain Mission, P.O. Box 129, Emmalena, Ky. 41740.
