

Burgess, William (Bill) Miller of Richmond passed away on December 19 after a long and courageous battle with a rare condition, Erdheim Chester disease. He was 69. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest P. Burgess, Jr. and Emma Miller Burgess of Richmond. He was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest P. Burgess of Fork Union and Mr. and Mrs. Clifton M. Miller of Richmond.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynn, and two daughters, Elizabeth Furgurson (Ryan) and Catherine Green (Andrew). He is also survived by three grandsons, Brycen Furgurson, Aaron and Evan Green and a brother, Ernest P. Burgess, III, of St. Louis.
Bill graduated from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria where he was a member of the football team. He attended Randolph-Macon College and graduated from Virginia Wesleyan. He had a successful career in sales of construction materials and his last position was as sales manager with Best Distributing, where he worked for many years.
Bill was a devoted family man. He loved sports and one of his greatest joys was watching his daughters compete. He was a loyal fan of the Redskins and the Richmond Spiders. He also loved cars; everything about Christmas, especially nutcrackers; and sharing his model trains with his grandsons.
Special gratitude goes to Dr. Leanne Yanni and the staff at Bon Secours Palliative Care for their extraordinary support. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, at 2 pm at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Avenue, Richmond, VA 23226. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Stephens. Burial will be private.
