

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Richard DeHaven and Margaret Ingulli DeHaven. He is survived by his son, William Richard DeHaven, Jr. (Tammy DeHaven); and two grandchildren, Dylan Mai DeHaven and William Hudson DeHaven; along with his siblings, Barbara DeHaven, Arlene DeHaven-Damron (Randy Lee Damron), and Thomas DeHaven.
Originally from Staten Island, NY, Bill moved to New Jersey in 1961 at the age of 10. Bill was quite the athlete (known at one point as “Billy Bones”); he played baseball and later served as high school quarterback. Bill attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, earning his Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Later, he received a post-baccalaureate degree in Information Systems. Bill was an avid reader and lover of music. Some of his favorite artists were Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, the Grateful Dead and the Beatles. He had a passion for animals, including his many pets; he loved his dog Mya and cat that he inherited, Cali. Known affectionately as the “Old Ape,” Bill enjoyed crossword puzzles, going to concerts, traveling, and all things Harley-Davidson.
Bill was a kind man known for his big heart, wonderful sense of humor and adoration for his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on August 7, 2024, 10 a.m., at Dale Memorial Park. Flowers can be received at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel in Midlothian, VA.
Bill was a wonderful person, who touched many lives with his quiet compassion and warm-hearted personality. He will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
