Lewis was born in Salem, Va., the son of Lewis, Sr. and Sarah (Gearheart) Wimmer. After graduating from high school, Lewis went to work for Western Electric until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He then became a farmer, his true avocation; he owned Bloomingdale Farm in Louisa County and raised Black Angus cattle until his health declined earlier this year. Known by his family and friends as “Jr.” or “Whitey”, Lewis was a much-loved character and will not be forgotten.
