Cleo L. Gray was born in 1922 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to her parents, Marion Wesley Lewis and Bessie Lewis. She passed away on June 15, 2013 in Allen, Texas. She married James Othel Renfro, in 1939 and they were married for 40 years until his passing in 1979. They had one son Glen Renfro of Allen, Texas. They were long time members of West Tenth Street Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
In 1982 Cleo married Sterling L. Gray and were married for 27 years until he passed away. They were long time members of Nicoma Park Baptist Church.
In 2009 Cleo moved to Texas to be near her son, a move she had many doubts abut since she was a lifelong Okie
Her career started at Douglas Aircraft in World War II as an inspector. She moved on to S & H Green Stamps handling their merchandising and inventory in Oklahoma City. After a successful career she went to work for Western Electric where she started as a coil winder. Subsequently, she became a layout operator for several years before her retirement.
If you could describe Cleo in a few phrases it would be generous, soft hearted, kind, determined, loving and gave service to others. She knew pain but never complained.
Even though she had to work outside the house-her home was clean, meals were prepared (3 times a day), her flower garden blooming, her garden producing, canning done, clothes washed (and even ironed). I couldn't have asked for a more loving mother. Cleo was preceded in death by her father and mother, Marion L. & Bessie Lewis; husband, James Othel Renfro; husband, Sterling L. Gray and grandsons, Glenn Scott Renfro and Todd Allan Renfro. Cleo is survived by her sister, Geneva Lovette; son & daughter in law, Glen & Marie Renfro; grandson, Chris Renfro, granddaughter, Lisa Renfro and great grandsons, Cameron Renfro and Andrew Renfro. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, June 21, 2014 at the Paylor Family Funeral Care Chapel followed by interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
