Alfredo (Fred) A. LeBlanc

Semper Fi

After suffering from declining health for many years, “the old Marine” passed away June 23, 2023. Fred was born in Denver, Colorado March 28, 1944 to Lucy Vigil and Alfred A. LeBlanc. Fred enrolled in the Marine Corps when he was 17 years old at the onset of the Vietnam war. The four years in the Marine Corps defined the rest of Fred’s life. He loved the “Corps” and his country, and always enjoyed making Jeanie and the twin boys sing the Marine Corps Hymn on the Marine Corps birthday every year.

He married Jeanie Parkinson in 1980. The birth of twin boys, Tony and Tyler, began a wonderful journey for the four of them. One of his greatest enjoyments was watching his boys in all their athletic pursuits. Fred loved being involved in coaching during their early years, and later, sitting on the sideline cheering with his cowbell through the college years. He also loved watching the grandkids pursue their athletic endeavors. Fred always encouraged his kids to achieve high educational goals and made that a top priority in their lives.

Fred worked in personnel and employee relations at the University of Utah, Kennecott, and the State of Utah for over 30 years. He was a true people’s person. Fred helped many people during his career and throughout his life, and always brought a playful sense of humor with him. He loved to strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen, and even if they didn’t, he would make them listen anyway. He enjoyed cars and telling stories of the Corvette he purchased after getting out of the Marine Corps. There was no doubt Fred loved to have a good time, and especially loved going to Wendover and trying not to lose. He was a big personality with a wonderful sense of humor, and although that humor might be gone, the memories will last a lifetime for many. Goodbye Dad, we love you and thanks for everything.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Joseph’s Villa Rehab for all the wonderful and compassionate care Fred received there. Fred is survived by wife Jeanie; brother Eugene (Cynthia) LeBlanc Benson, Arizona; Tony Scott (Jenny) LeBlanc Bountiful, Utah; Tyler Maughan (Christy) LeBlanc San Juan Capistrano, California; Jesse (Carolyn) LeBlanc Dallas, Texas; Jonas LeBlanc, Seattle, Washington; Erin Barney (Nathan) West Jordan, Utah; Honorary Son Rodney (Sharon) Chapman, Salt Lake City, Utah; Honorary Son Tim (Leah) Gannuscio, Salt Lake City, Utah. Survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his good buddy “Rocket”.

Fred requested to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tony and Jenny’s home on the evening of July 6, 2023. Please contact Tony or Jeanie for more details.
