Arley Mae Hudson Jorgensen, 94, passed away June 1, 2018 from causes incident to age. She was born to Daniel Loren Hudson and Alice Grace Sears on December 13, 1923 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Arley attended school at Forest Elementary, Irving Junior High, South High, and completed some coursework at LDS Business College.
She was a talented creative writer and enjoyed poetry. She loved to travel whether it was a trip to the store or around the world. She had a sense of humor that was unmatched.
She met the love of her life, Theodore Woodrow Jorgensen, when he called to ask her sister for a date. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 19, 1945. They were blessed with four children: Stephen, Sharon, Suzanne, and Daniel.
Arley held a variety of jobs during her lifetime. She worked for JC Penny, the Utah Board of Education, the Internal Revenue Service, Acacia Floral Shop with her husband and parents-in-law, and the University of Utah Student Health Service before retiring.
She dearly loved her friends and made them wherever she went. She was the last surviving member of her high school “club” friends.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous callings over her lifetime. She loved working with the young people in the Primary and Young Women’s organizations, especially as Stake Camp Director.
She was the president of the Sugar House Rotary Anns. She was proud of her pioneer heritage and held offices in her local International Society of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers camp.
Family was very important to Arley. She relished spending time with them and supported them in their many endeavors. Her posterity was one of her greatest accomplishments.
She is survived by her son T. Stephen (Cathy) Jorgensen; daughter Sharon J. Burns; son Daniel L. (Brenda) Jorgensen; grandchildren Christian (Alicia) Jorgensen, Hans (Claudia) Jorgensen, Jeremie Jorgensen, Jonathan Jorgensen, Erin Burns, Andrew Jorgensen, Captain Samuel Burns, and Captain Jacob (Jane) Burns; great-grandchildren Ashley Jorgensen, Sage Jorgensen, Aiden Jorgensen, Theodore Burns, and Amelia Jorgensen; 17 nieces and nephews; six cousins; many grandnephews and nieces and their families; and countless friends, both young and old.
She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore; daughter Suzanne; parents; parents-in-law; aunts and uncles; siblings Donald Hudson, Loren (Evelyn) Hudson, Alice (Alvin) Mitchell, Dagmar (Tom) Page, and David (Janis) Jorgensen; son-in-law H. Stephen Burns; nephew Jerrold David Jorgensen; nieces Carla Lee Hudson, Jennifer Alice Mitchell, and Anita Jill Page.
A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 S Highland drive, Salt Lake City Utah on June 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held at the same location on June 6th at 11:00 AM with burial following directly after.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff for the care Arley received at St. Joseph’s Villa and Symbii Hospice in her final days.
